Hey I'm Jessica! I'm looking for any other photographers employed by a fire department. I work at a local fire department as a photographer/historian/p.r. person. Normally they call me their team mom even tho I'm the youngest there!
I'm just wondering what being a photographer at your department is like, how long you've been there, what certifications you have all that good stuff.

I am our stations photographer. I am doing it about a year now. I am taking Fireground photography in April and then Fire Ground Photography 2 in Sept. I am in the process of putting together a slide show for our appreciation banquet in 2 weeks. I love doing the photography . It is alot of fun. It is great for training purposes and history. I am taking my Hazmat awareness and Hazmat Opps right now. I have my first aid and CPR. I will be going for my firefighter essentials asap. I have been learning alot from the guys.
Hi, I am the photographer for Windsor Township Emergency Services in Dimondale, MI. I have been the assistant for a few years and "'official" for the last 6 months. I have no formal training, but got to shadow our departments former photographer and my husband has a photography backgroud, so he HAD to answer my questions. I would like to take more formal training specifcally in Fire/EMS scenes, but don't want to go the full photojournalism route. I make sure to keep relations with my department and any others I shoot for very professional and positive. Trust is a big item. Looking forward to talking to you all more on this.
Great suggestion Jim I forgot to mention that in my reply
That's an important one. Get familiar with your blurring tool for faces and license plates.
