INDIANAPOLIS - Firefighters battled a two alarm fire Thursday morning at a location that was all too familiar.
For the second time in two weeks, firefighters were called out to fire to the Nottingham Village Apartments at 21st Street and Post Road with word that the building was on fire.
Firefighters arrived only to discover the burning building was the same one that was intentionally set ablaze just two weeks ago.
Additional firefighters were called to the scene to help battle the blaze; in all it took 75 firefighters an hour to bring the fire under control.
The previous fire compromised the building’s structure meaning firefighter could not battle the blaze inside. Instead, they had to surround the building and drown the flames with water.
Residents at the apartment complex say they are concerned about recent criminal activity in their complex; they say a half dozen fires have been set in Dumpsters, cars, hallways, stairwells, a storage closet and a grill.
Resident Latina Harrison says she and her family are moving, "My husband can't sleep. He's irate. We're going to move."
The total damage from Thursday’s fire and the previous fire in the same building is estimated to be $1 million.
