COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs firefighters say an early morning fire damaged eight apartments.

Battalion Chief Tommy Smith says the fire around 2:30 a.m. Sunday evacuated 38 residents from the building.

Two people suffered smoke inhalation, a third person was bitten by a dog, and a firefighter had an ankle injury.

The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known.

The whole building was evacuated over concerns that the fire might have exposed asbestos.
