Hey does anybody know about any good fire explorer competitions that are good for learning and competing? I know about the Illinois Fire School Competition but are there any other good ones my post is out of Peachtree City, GA Post 209 we are lookin for some good ones.
I know there is one in NJ but can not think of the town its in but i think its in monmouth county ill try to find out more info on this and get back to you
Id say get all your JRS together and do some good comps against each other, Ask around the towns near by and ask if they were interested in some friendly comps.
Wheatland iowa fire department is trying to get a a junior explorer compitetion set up. I will have more information on this next month. I know we have decided that it will be either in late may or in june.
Im a advisor for a post down in estero florida. We are actually training and getting ready for a national competion now. Its every year around the first week of February and held in Gatlinburg Tn. Its called winterfest and teams from all over the country attend. Its our big competion we look foward to every year.
That competion in Gatlinburg, TN. is a Southeastern regional one. Covering Georgia, Florida. Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Kentucky. Our post hasn't been in about 3 years. We've been trying to get out numbers up again so we can go back. Our post basically stopped the competition the first year we went. We had the only all female team in the search and rescue event. When they came up to the starting line everyone in the building came over to watch. All over them members had to cross the finish line. When the first young lady's hand touched the finish line they all collapsed in exhaustion. There was a standing ovation, because they went farther than a lot of the male teams even our own all male team. Great competition for fire, EMS, and law enforcement explorer posts. It is even great competition for the wilderness groups of the scouts.
