DETROIT - Only ash remains after flames ripped through three homes on Detroit's East Side Thursday.

It happened on McLellan and Charlevoix on Detroit's East Side. No one was in the homes when they caught fire.

One of the homes saw three generations grow up there and had been in the family for 50 years.

"There's a lot of family history in that house, my kids and grandkids born in that house," said Barbara Williams who was raised in the family home.

William's daughter Gina Weston was in the process of moving back into the home.

"I lost my home, and I don't have my grandma's home either," she said.

The two homes next door have been vacant for years and the target of vandalism.

The Detroit Fire Department is investigating whether arson was the cause of the fire.
