COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed three apartment buildings in College Park, displacing dozens of people.

College Park fire department spokeswoman Tami Fowler says firefighters from seven departments battled the blaze, which also sparked a grass fire Monday.

Fowler says the three buildings contained 24 apartments and the blaze displaced 53 people. Fowler says American Red Cross officials are assisting those whose homes were destroyed.

Fowler says a bed-ridden resident was taken to a hospital as a precaution, and another resident complained of chest pains and was hospitalized.
