ANDERSON, S.C. - Fire has destroyed the sanctuary of a church in northern South Carolina, but no injuries have been reported.

Multiple media outlets reported the fire was reported at the Centerville Church of God in Anderson County shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday.

Anderson County Fire Chief Billy Gibson says the sanctuary was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. It took about 45 minutes to extinguish the flames. Fire crews were able to save most of the education wing of the church.

Four fire departments responded.

Investigators with the State Law Enforcement Division and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms are investigating.

Pastor Terry Collins says he's contacting another church about using their sanctuary
