ORANGE, NJ - Investigators continue to seek the cause of a massive fire that engulfed six homes in a northern New Jersey community and displaced 38 people.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which started around 1 p.m. Saturday in a home on Oakwood Avenue in Orange. It soon spread to several other nearby one- and two-family homes in the area, forcing residents to flee into the streets.

Dozens of firefighters in the Essex County community and many from surrounding towns battled the blaze, which took nearly four hours to extinguish.

Officials were still working Sunday to estimate the cost of the fire damage. They said the Red Cross and other agencies were helping residents displaced by the blaze.
