Hi there I am a member on several of my counties volunteer fire depts. One of the departments has their 30th anniversary coming up and we are going to have a community celebration for it. We are trying to come up with some ideas for different things we can do to get the public involved. We of course have some of the usual ideas like... Letting the kids knock down some cones with a small fire hose, dunking booths, bobing for apples, pig roast, having our area air EVAC flying in, ect and we also doing some of the usual fire prevention stuff such as handing out smoke detectors, teaching basic fire extinguisher use ect. Does anyone else have any ideas of things you have possibly done for PR events or anything else that could get the community involved. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

How about a street dance?

We are celebrating our 100th Anniversary this year and we were thinking of doing a big day but decided to make it easier and do 4 events. First one was our installation dinner. Our last one was a firemans parade (we had about 35 units) along with water battles...fireman and a kids set. Facepainting, coloring area and a bouce house. Next month we are having our 5th annual street dance with 5 bands and closing out the year during fire prevention week with an open house...which we do every year. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions! I dont know that we have a big enought community for something quite that large or for doing the multi-day event. however that is an awesome idea for out county rescue squad in the future. but I will bring up some of the smaller ideas for sure for suggestion for our fire department annicersary!  Thanks!
