ISLAND HEIGHTS, N.J. - Officials are trying to determine what sparked a fire that damaged the home of a New Jersey fire chief.

A police officer noticed smoke coming from Island Heights Volunteer Fire Company Chief Andrew Parks' ranch house Tuesday.

Fire Capt. K.C. Baney says the flames were in the voids of the attack and firefighters had difficulty as the fire moved from space to space.

Firefighters were forced to cut through the roof, which collapsed into the a portion of the home.

No one was injured.
