Fire damages Jamestown, N.D., restaurant
(Associated Press)

Fire caused an estimated $12,000 in damage to an Applebee's restaurant in Jamestown.

No one was hurt in the Thursday afternoon blaze that took two dozen firefighters about half an hour to contain.

The fire started outside in an enclosed backdoor area where garbage and cardboard are kept. The cause is under investigation.

The $12,000 in damage includes lost food, smoke damage and fencing that was destroyed outside the building.

Fire Chief Jim Reuther says the restaurant had passed a safety inspection earlier in the day.
