BUFFALO, N.Y. - Overnight, a fast-moving fire ravaged two homes in the Village of Hamburg.
A family was forced from their home overnight because of an intense fire that sent at least seven crews rushing to the scene.
The 4th of July came to a frightening end for two families in the Village of Hamburg.
Firefighters rushed to a burning home on East Main Street, near Buffalo Street, just before midnight.
When crews arrived, they quickly called a second alarm as flames spread to a neighboring home.
"The fire was very intense. It was in the first, second and into the attic. And with the exposure problems, we just wanted the extra man power to come out here and help us out," said Assistant Chief Jared Sterner, Hamburg Fire Department.
Both homes were occupied.
Everyone made it out safely, but one family could not return to their home.
Sterner said, "For the main fire building, the homeowner is displaced and we will be getting a hold of the Red Cross and getting them a place to stay."
Crews spent most of the overnight hours at the scene.
Investigators are still trying to figure out exactly what sparked this holiday fire.
