Being that there are so many other major social networking sites out there (i.e. Facebbok, LinkedIn) who have access through "apps", don't you think that its time for Firefighter Network to develop one as well?

That would be a good Idea ... I notice that there is a mobile site for FFN
Having an iPhone or iPad app, even Android app, would make it quite easier to navigate as opposed to using the mobile internet site. Also, the mobile internet site doesn't really allow for editing of information. You have to navigate to the full browser interface. I'm a devout Mac user and I've got quite a bit of background in computers. I'll have to start reading about app development.

Hmmm... As we speak, and I just took a screen shot off my iPhone, one needs to have an smart phone app to gain access to the FFN. I can see a simple one graphic app that gives you access to the link or you can do the following on an iPhone...

Step 1: Open Safari

Step 2: Type in http://my.firefighternation.com or, if you have already looked at the site, chances are you might have bookmarked the site. To me, using the bookmark is like having an app.

The default screen shot as shown on the left handside is minimal and is the latest FFN Activity.

The other options are My FFN, Members (not sure if it is displaying who is online or new members) and Firefighter Forums (the most recent pops up first, just like the computer type of format you are looking at when not on a phone or iPad.

My FFN displays information you put in using a computer and lists your friends at the bottom of the page. Click on one of the icon photo/graphics and you can see their profile and / or send a message.

The existing smart phone / mobile program used by FFN needs a lot of upgrades, and maybe an app would work to enable editing once you've hit send, attaching photos, full website access. I'm sure it all costs money, so I've been happy with being able to use my iPhone to follow a topic forum when not at home. Admittedly, you have to take a bunch of steps to do something that is probably very simple to create and program, or is it... Change is good. It's important to note that without someone questioning why we do things, we would not have many changes that make things just that much better. Nice post brother.

CBz

Not only IPhone but all smart phones. I have a Samsung smart phone with web access so it would be nice for me too.
