The Congress and the Administration reached a budget deal last Friday for Fiscal Year 2011 appropriations. We now have the legislative text of H.R. 1473, the compromise version that will be voted on by the House on Thursday, April 14, then by the Senate.
H.R. 1473 provides $405 million for the
Assistance to Firefighters (AFG) program and $405 million for the
SAFER (hiring) program for FY 2011. This represents a $15 million increase for the AFG program over its FY 2010 funding level of $390 million.
The above appropriation levels are consistent with the Fire and Rescue Coalition’s request for FY 2011, to which
FAMA and
FEMSA were signatories.
Congratulations to all
FAMA and
FEMSA members who worked along with other fire/emergency services leaders and partner associations to achieve this outcome.
