NEW YORK - Firefighters are battling a five-alarm fire in Queens, and more than 200 first responders have been called to the scene.

The Fire Department says two firefighters have suffered minor injuries at the blaze near the Elmhurst area.

The fire was reported at around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, and by noon it had spread through the upper floors of the seven-story residential building and through the roof. Residents were evacuated.

Brutal day here in NYC to be working in turn outs! Almost unimaginable... Glad all are safe.
NFPA and the manufacturers need to do some heavy thinking how we are going to maintain protection while increasing breathability of PPE.
