Kentucky State Police say a father and his 4-year-old daughter were killed and two of his sons injured during a house fire in Morganfield.

The home about 30 miles south of Evansville, Ind., was found just after midnight Friday engulfed in flames. Police said Kim Tipitt and 9-year-old Aaron Tipitt escaped the home, but Albert Tipitt and his 4-year-old daughter Caitlin and 8-year-old son Austin were still inside.

Firefighters were able to rescue Austin, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The 9-year-old who escaped was also taken to a hospital in stable condition.

After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found the bodies of the father and daughter. The state Fire Marshall's Office is investigating. The cause of the fire has not been released.
