PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Authorities in Providence are investigating a late night fire that claimed the life of one man and injured three others.

Fire officials say the blaze in the city's Silver Lake section was reported at about 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

The victim, a 41-year-old man, was found inside the building. His name was not immediately made public.

Three neighbors who desperately tried to save the victim by removing a door from its hinges were treated for smoke inhalation but are expected to survive.

Neighbor Shawn Leonard tells WPRI-TV that he heard an explosion before running outside to try and help the victim.
