(AP) EASTON, Md.

The Maryland fire marshal's office says a 43-year-old woman is dead after a fire started in her Easton apartment.

Deputy State Fire Marshal Joe Zurolo says the fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in an eight-unit garden-style apartment building in Easton. Firefighters put out the fire in the 400 block of Moton Street.

Zurolo says a 43-year-old woman died in the fire, but he does not have further details yet. She lived alone in the apartment where her body was found.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore will perform an autopsy.
