Fargo Firefighters Briefly Trapped In 5-Alarm Apartment Fire

FARGO, N.D. - About 150 Fargo residents have been displaced from their homes after a blaze at an apartment building.

No one was injured in Monday night's fire.

Fargo Fire Marshal Norman Scott said he thinks the fire started in the first floor of the three-story 62-unit building. It then spread upward and throughout the third floor.

Jesse Ostlund was watching a movie when his smoke detector went off. He describes the fire as "crazy."

Fire Department spokeswoman Jesse Schmidt told The Forum that it was classified as a five-alarm fire.

Scott said two firefighters had to be rescued after becoming trapped on the third floor after the roof caved, but they were not hurt.

The Red Cross set up a shelter for displaced residents.
