Authorities say two firefighters suffered minor injuries when a ceiling fell on them as they battled Monday's blaze.

A 43-year-old woman told fire officials she had noticed an oil or gas smell earlier while riding in the car, but parked the 2000 Ford Expedition in the garage.

Her six children ages 4 to 23 later smelled smoke coming from the garage.

Firefighters say flames were shooting through the house when crews arrived. It took 40 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Damage to the home was estimated at $175,000. Two neighboring houses also were damaged
