OSHA and NIOSH say...

1) At least annually

2) Whenever facial contous change. That means weight gain or loss, injury/scarring, etc.

3) Whenever a new respirator is placed in service. This could be a change in SCBA brand, adding a N-95 respirator, etc.
Ok thanks
Every year and what Ben says.
Ours are fit tested annually, usually around the same time we conduct our annual SCBA consumption test.
For those who are not familar, air consumption tests are a good idea, but they are not OSHA requirements.

Medical clearance, fit testing, and SCBA flow testing are annual OSHA requirements.
Usually, within a few months of the SCBA consumption testing/fit testing is our annual medical exam complete with pulmonary function test.
It was a test question, and we went over it in class, osha says yearley.
Brian, I understand that. That is a schedule choice by your department.

There is no nationally-mandated standard that requires a SCBA consumption test.
That is simply a choice by your department and that was the point I made.
Gotcha, point taken.
