Does anyone know the vision standered for career fire departments? I am currently testing but I am a little concerend that my vision may keep me from getting a job. I can see well enough to drive, but because of some optic nerve damage I will never have perfect vision in either of my eyes. Does anyone have any advise on this matter? Thanks

Chris depends on the department's chosen standard. for example some use a DOT physical instead of NFPA. Some department's allow color blindness and some do not. So it is not that easy to answer your question.
But if you want to look at a standard, look up NFPA 1582 part A for new hires. That document will tell you the NFPA's minimum standard for everything medical.
Part B is for pre-existing employees annual physical, there is a difference.
