Just wanted to share with everyone something that happened in a neighboring town last night... Just not something you would expect... Please take a minute to watch the story in the link below. The same was sent out to all our guys and friends in an e-mail...
When we go on alarms we never really know wat to expect. Most of the time we can categorize them as "routine". Remember that it only takes ONE time for that "routine" looking call to be "un-routine" and for someone to get hurt or killed. Read the story in the link below of a working fire Coram, NY had yesterday. It was a small fire, they say. As your reading, think about this. What if those devices where rigged to fall into the store by a mechanism that breaks with heat or by using a trip wire made of fishing line. That small fire could have turned quickly to disaster. This brings me to another point. To all those who ride OIC, remember to call RIT (FAST)!!!!! Get into the habit of doing it every time you have a job. BIG or SMALL. Turn them back if not needed. If the sh*t hits the fan it's to late to call for help, and you just never know when that could happen, so be prepared!!!
Stay Safe

Disregard the last, obviously it was my error the 1st time...
Definitely something you wouldnt expect, atleast not like that, that was set up to burn that to the ground... And if not get it going at once, but in a sequence... That would have certainly injured the 1st due crew at the very least considering one of the stations is less than 50 ft away... But the way our economy is right now, their has been a rise in Arson fires, atleast in our area alone... So as always, expect the unexpected and be safe...
We had this happen to us along time ago we were fighting a trailer fire and when we got it out found dynamite boxes in the rear of the trailer talk about pucker factor!
In these desperate times I am sure you will see and hear of more things like this. You must be ready for anything at anytime. I hope this serves as an eye opener for us all.
always remember that "there is no such thing as a routine fire"
Always expect what you least expect the most especially when you don't expect it..........Paul
