GREENFIELD, Mass. (AP) -- A former Massachusetts firefighter convicted of arson last year is now charged with stealing equipment from the station in Montague where he once worked.

Christopher Mark Tobey was ordered held under house arrest at his parents' home with a monitoring device following his arraignment Wednesday in Greenfield District Court on a charge of receiving stolen goods.

A probation officer told a judge that the 24-year-old Tobey will face additional charges based on items found during searches of his girlfriend's apartment and the his parents' property.

Police tell The Recorder of Greenfield the items are worth about $20,000.

Tobey was arrested Tuesday after crashing his Jeep. Police found items in his vehicle that appeared to belong to the fire department.
