ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Authorities have ordered evacuations in the area surrounding an abandoned meat packing plant on the southern end of Albuquerque.


The Bernalillo County Fire Department says the fire broke out at the plant Friday morning.

Officials have evacuated a one-mile radius around the fire. People were being directed to either the Westside Community Center or the Mountain View Community Center.

Some streets in the area were also closed.
