PHOENIX - An elderly man is dead after a fire that broke out in a senior housing complex in downtown Phoenix.
Fire Department spokesman Capt. Scott Walker says the only other injuries from the Sunday night blaze were two people treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire began in a second-story apartment about 7:30 p.m. but fire officials are still trying to determine the cause.
The Arizona Republic reports that nearly 75 people were evacuated from the housing residence after smoke filled the second-story hallway, blocking access to exits.
The fire was controlled in about 15 minutes.
