[i would first like to apologize for the typos i WILL make, its 2 in the morning and im drifting to sleep,]

i know this might be a bit late, but i just started thinkign about it and it got me steaming mad.

people usualy tend to remember where they are and what they are doing when somethign important in the world happens, for instence, on 9/11 i was in 6thgrade art, making potery. a teacher came running in and turned the radio on to listen in, she was crying, and i also noticed many of the other teachers were botherd, we left school early that day, they keept talking about towers... i didnt know what school had to do with towers but i was glad i was coming home. i walk into my house and my mom is watching the tv, the video of the planes hitting the towers showing over and over again, she had a blank face and didnt say anything to me,

my point is. most people today dont remember that, they dont remember where they were, they dont remember the 343 brothers we lost that day, they dont remember seeing the sight of those two towers falling... well i will tell you soemthing, i remember.. and to this day, when i see a video of the towers falling, a tear comes to my eye.

Did you know that at my school we didnt even have a moment of silence on 9/11/08? there was no speaches over the speaker of the men lost, no prayers, no videos of it, nothing.. and tell me, why? did people forget or do they just not care anymore?
A buddy of mine that i met at a fire academy lives in NJ, and he told me they did have a moment of silence at their school which made me feel better, but what he told me next made me furious, a girl actualy asked "what is so important about 9.11?"... how does someone so close to New york not remember something like that? did they forget or is it shear ignorence?

Did these people forget about 9/11 because they dont live in NY?
did these people forget about 9/11 because they didnt know anyone who died?
maybe they just wernt affected?
or maybe they just dont care...

someone please tell me why people in this world dont come to notice something as important as that...
because i dont get it,
i just dont,
do they not remmeber?
or is it that they just dont care?

To a point, your right. There are a great many that are carrying on the memory of those 343 FDNY members. The most important thing we can do is to make a difference in the fire service in one way or another. We should train, speak up about safety and be the best that we can. As officers we need to mentor and coach our people to be better trained and leaders than we are. With all of that, we have to set the example and take up causes that are for our brothers and sisters. If we don't "forget", then neither will those around us. As time goes by, it will take more effort from us to ensure that the loss of 343 firefighters are never forgotten. Stay positive and take action. See need, fill a need.

If you are interested in helping directly, go to the courage and valor web site and donate and get involved in fundraising. I am having shirts made up right now for that cause and could get some to you if you want. Also, there is a run at FDIC for the foundation. Even if you can't make it, register just to donate. You can do that at the FDIC website. Feel free to email me anytime for more info on that.

Stay safe and never forget!
Unfortunately we as Americans are very short sighted. I do rember was on the day the earth stood still. I was home on the treadmill trying to work off my high blood pressure, when my loving wife came down stairs to let me know that a plane had just crashed in NYC. It was the beginning of a terrible nightmare. On September 11 343 of my brothers and sisters were murdered. Along with the rest of those whose lives were cut short. WE SHOULDNOT FORGET that day. Stay safe, Alex
I live 20min from Shanksville so we alwayse have a service on 9/11. I Put our flag at half mast in the morning. It remained at half mast for 3 weeks.

I remember where and what I was doing the day the world stoped turning. I WILL NEVER FORGET!

You had some good points Dale
and i guess its just not remembering anymore. its the fact of respect, respecting those lost, and the fact it was a big loss for alot of people
well said DT,

Dale people move on, that is a fact of life. Like DT said Dec 7th, what did your school, your family or even what did YOU do on Dec 7th? Sept 11th, you thought the school was going to do something. Rather you assumed they would, like alot of people out there do.

I think it's great that you're fired up about this. Hopefully this coming 9/11 you will reach out to your school administration ahead of time and ensure something is going to be done. Hey why not offer to put it together and oversee it? Then turn around and do something on Dec 7th, April 19th, June 6th and so forth.

Dale it's time to step up to the plate. You're at a Fire/EMS site and hopefully you're here coz this is something you wish to either do or support as you become an adult. I respect that, and I support that. Courage- Is not just a thing we pull out and use when people are trapped in a burning building. Courage- Is the thing we use for every situation we encounter in life.
To some people 9-11-01 never happened. It was all a conspiracy.
I will tell you that I will Never forget the 343 firefighters, I actually knew 2 of them ! Every year we have a ceremony. Actually there are several ceremonies throughout New Jersey because of the large number of people we lost.
Some people just don't care, after all they weren't involved, they didn't know anyone who was murdered.
While this happened in New York City , it could have happened in any large city. Never forget!
343 FDNY for Ever!
How can you come here and ask this question...? I can tell you the time of day, the day of the week, and who I was with when it came across the TV...Don't get upset that someone asks the question..."What's so special about 9-11" Take the opportunity to teach them...teach them not only about 9-11 but also the history of our "brotherhood"...About a group of people that are even too varied to describe except for the one fact that binds them closer than even a family member...they are Firefighters with a sworn duty to act...that they (we) will put our asses on the line even for those we don't know...That we will NOT ever, EVER leave our partner behind...and that we will defend our Brothers/Sisters to the end...And we lost 343 of our Brothers when they entered hell to go above and beyond for their fellow men.....Stay safe and always remember to Keep the Faith.......Paul
the faith has always been strong in me, i just wish i seen it in others, ya know? i will be sure to take a part in honoring our fallen brothers during 9/11 at our school just like truckie suggested
