RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. - Officials in Russellville say a 70-year-old man who used a wheelchair and walker for mobility died after his apartment caught fire.

Fire officials say Hershel King, a former barge worker, was found lying on the living room floor of his apartment Thursday evening.

King was pronounced dead at the scene by Franklin County Coroner Elzie Malone.

Russellville Fire Chief Joe Mansell says King's apartment was the only one damaged by the fire.

Mansell says the cause of the fire has not been determined. He says the state fire marshal's office will assist in the investigation.
