I have a tremendous experience in design and build fire rescue stations. I was the Division Chief for the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department for 18 years. I design and built 35 fire rescue stations, most of them using the Design-Build contracting method. This method allows any municipality to award a single contract with a design-build firm and not necessary by "low bid". It is a combination of best design and best price. Guarantee no change orders and on time. I recently join a firm that is specialized in design-build fire rescue stations and due to the adverse economic situation that is affecting most of the municipal fire rescue agencies, this firm will provide the "Full Package". Lemartec will design, build and finance the project. The financing package can vary according to the needs and budget of each fire rescue service. This method will guarantee an immediate realization for the fire rescue service without very little capital investment. Not only that, but most municipalities may have "Operating budget capabilities" but very limited "Capital budget".
I recently participate to the Station Style '10 in Kansas City. The conference was very interesting; however, very few fire department representatives were present. The majority of the attendees were architects, engineers and vendors of fire rescue items. I will attend the FIERO conference in Charlotte, NC in November and I hope to some of you...
