As a small rural fire dept. we have yet to deal with Meth Lab explosions or fires but unfortunately it has made it's way to our community as well and I am seeking all the info. I can on the subject before we have such an incident.

No patch is needed just a thanks and to please share it with others so more benifit from it. Thanks Doug

I am doing a class coming up for drug labs and how to handle them. I'm looking forward to it.

Virginia offers great Meth lab classes thru the Department of Emergency Management. The classes are free and very enlightening. These are the same people that take care of Haz-mat in our state, so they have up to date info and hands on experience. You might check and see if any such program is available in your area.

Our Sheriff's department from both counties in our district have done multiple classes for us. They are both part of a Tri-County Drug task force. They not only not only went step by step through the manufacture process, but also what to look for when responding.

Doug,

I will be sending you a drive. It's great to have these communities to help each other with today's fireground. Thank you in advance.

This just goes to show they can be found anywhere.

I have a relative who drives a school bus and recently he noticed an unusual smell on the bus while driving the kids home. It was discovered that one or more of them was smoking meth on the bus ! Exposing every kid on that bus to the toxic chemicals. When he asked me what he should do I replied stop the bus and call the troopers and don't move until they arrived. I also suggested evacuating the bus but that clashes with school policy... He was also repremanded for dicussing the incident with me. If we stick our head in the sand, does the problem go away? I think not...
