Hey everyone!

I wanted to forward on an opportunity to support a great cause - the
Special Olympics! I know first hand what a great organization this is
and have participated in the plunge for the last few years - and some of
you on this site I know have too. Anyone who has been fortunate to
have similar experiences know that this is such an amazing opportunity
for kids and adults with special needs to experience training and
success in so many ways they may have otherwise not been able to if not
for S.O. There is nothing like the thrill of competition and teamwork
at any level and everyone deserves the chance to experience it -
regardless of the outcome! Every participant is a winner

The D.C. Fire Department is one of the groups that participates in an
annual "Polar Bear Plunge" to raise money for the Special Olympics
Maryland - they were the 3rd DIVISION WINNERS last year! This Year we were able to get partial sponsorhip from Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling (many thanks to them!)

We will be driving ourselves to the afterparty location and then taking
a bus over to the event at Sandy Point State Park where we will BBQ & prepare with our fellows teams. It takes place in January 24th (to make sure the water is EXTRA cold!) where everyone takes an icy dip into the Chesapeake Bay. Thousands will be participating by "taking the plunge". I'm encouraging you and your friends to join or support them and this amazing organization!!! DCFD Polar Bear T-Shirts will be on sale in the next few weeks.

made through a team member or a general team donation - the money goes
from you straight to the Special Olympics Maryland organization. Let's
