MILFORD, Conn. - Fire investigators are trying to determine whether a blaze that destroyed three homes and damaged three others in Milford was intentionally set.
The fire broke out at just before 4 a.m. Sunday in a vacant home on Laurel Avenue and spread to the other homes. One person suffered first-degree burns on her arms and a firefighter was treated for exhaustion. No one else was hurt.
Fire department Capt. Chris Zak says the blaze left 11 people homeless. He says the fire spread to two other homes and damaged three others on Stowe Avenue before firefighters got it under control after about two hours.
Authorities have interviewed local residents. Zak says it's not yet clear what started the fire.
