Simply put, what is your departments policy for keeping track of your daily activity? The example above is over 100 years old. To be honest, my department still uses this method to keep track of the daily activities on a 24-hour clock. My assumption is that some people do this electronically, using the computer word processing programs. But then again, maybe most folks use this old handwritten system?

Personally, I maintain both the handwritten log as well as a computer version. The benefit of having your daily log done electronically is that you have immediate access. The same is not true should the "book" disappear.

I have attached a sample daily log entry, using Microsoft Word for your review, comment and maybe even some plagiarism. Feel free to use this anyway you find helpful.

As of now we log down what time, type of call, run number, and time we get back in a paper log book.
Soon we will do them on computer log from what I am hearing from above.
I have heard the same thing for my department but was wondering what computer log program folks were using. Microsoft word? Excel? CB
We are using Fire Programs, which has two seperate sections for logging. A company report, which is filled out detailing personel, and apperatus at all of our stations. A daily report, which is filled out by the officer running an individual station. Both are feild programmable and easy to use. Of course the are just one portion of a much larger and more complicated electronic management system.
At my carrer station we use computer and paper log like the one shown. We write down the time and type of call with call number, we also use it to log anything done during shift, i.e riding assigments, wash truck, cleaning station, fire inspections, etc. we use the computer only for call reporting. This seams to work rather good for shfit change and officers pass on.
