Hi,
I made a topic similar to this one on another forum with a very large population of firefighters, EMS personnel and police officers, and basically it was inquiring what careers I could do and I couldn't because I live with red/green colourblindness.
This doesn't mean I can't see red or green. I can still see every single colour, just some appear off to me, and I also have trouble distinguishing between some red and some greens when placed next to each other.
Now this doesn't mean I can't still see when things are there, however, while talking with a CFD firefighter, who works on the department as a firefighter, and is deaf, however wears hearing aids making it possible for him to still hear, we got to talking about how seeing as I can still see and distinguish a lot of it, and I can live perfectly fine with this, that it shouldn't be considered a hazard for the job.
Basically I would like to hear your opinions on this, as well as what your department's opinions on this are, and if you agree or disagree. I would like to have a nice civil discussion, and I figured where else would be a good place except here :)
