I have a firefighter on our department who has just had a colostomy.  The belt of the SCBA rides just where this is.  Since we have so few experienced interior qualified FF, I want to keep this person working.  Has any other department worked with this?   There is a "sport guard" that might work to protect this area.  It is designed for contact and rough sports.  Any other ideas?

Thanks

I work with a FF who has a colostomy and he doesn't have any such guards or protections and just wears his regular PPE and SCBA. It is pretty much a non-issue and as time goes by and the more comfortable your member will become with it and know such limitations. The turnout gear should provide enough padding to prevent any issues with the waistbelt.

Thanks John,  This is good to know.   It still has been less than 6 months, so there is still healing and adjusting to it.
