LAUREL SPRINGS, N.J. - A house fire in Camden County killed one man, critically injured a woman and necessitated the rescue of a firefighter Wednesday morning, officials said.
SkyFox was over the scene of the fire, which was reported around 6:20 a.m. on the 900 block of Lakeview Avenue in Laurel Springs.
As many as seven people were reported to be inside the home when the blaze broke out.
Initials reports of people trapped had firefighters searching for missing occupants. A fast team task force proceeded to help fire crews search the basement.
Two people taken from the burned home were transported to Stratford Hospital. A man was later pronounced dead, and a woman was said to be in critical condition.
Authorities also confirmed that one firefighter was located after a mayday call and rescued from the blaze. Reports from the scene indicated that firefighter was in good condition.
A third person overcome with grief was also taken to a hospital.
The fire was placed under control around 7 a.m.
