When kids come to the station we send them home with gift bags, including a child rescue sticker for their window..Our chief told us to inform parents to put it on the childs interior door, due to child abductions... This really slapped me in the face because it is a very obvious thing...."There's a kids room". Has anyone else had this advisory?...

All of you raise good ponts. But in a nut shell, if I am crawling in a dwelling, Im not looking for stickers on a door, Im looking for landmarks and for victims. When I pull up to a dwelling, Im reading conditions, not looking for stickers in a window. Finally, reguardless if the family has moved, the kid isnt in that room any more or what ever. If the place is on fire and the parents are in the front of the dwelling with out thier child, they will let you know where they are. If they are not in the front, they are probably all dead. But hopefully just not home. Give out smoke detectors, not stickers.

Be safe, stay low.
We never handed them out, however we have seen them from time to time, sometimes on inside doors and sometimes on front windows. Thoughts....on an interior door, unless you are putting it about 6" to 10" off the floor, Im never going to see it in a hazardous atmosphere. Next, as was already stated, I may take valuable time looking in that room specifically when the child may be in brothers or sisters or mam and dads room. I remember when I was very young, if things went "bump" in the night, I ran to mom and dads room. Also, if i enter and it is a kids room, I SEARCH! If it is an adults room, I SEARCH. I just search. Do the most thorough search that you can do under the circumstances EVERYTIME!

Search and get the victim the heck out!!!!!!!
To us they're a thing of the past for both reasons mentioned, in fact the only one I've seen of late is on the rear doors to our walk-in Rescue, kinda of a dig on the young bucks that tend to be seated in that area.
LOL....I like that Jeff! LOL

Like we all say,,,just do the COMPLETE search!!!!!
That was my reaction...
Fire prevention....ALWAYS the best!
..and does the "R" stand for Rescue?
And like all the stickers mentioned, these ones are of no use for the same reasons. Define your search pattern and search. Search correctly.
These stickers are a child predators dream. Never used them.
We were also informed of the old window stickers leading to more child abductions. Upon a more in depth look we found a new sticker. That is placed near the bottem of the childs door and two more smaller stickers that go near the bottom of the door jambs. All of which being reflective to help aid in the interior search.
