Children Dropped From Windows During Minnesota Apartment Fire

BLOOMINGTON - More than nine people are hospitalized for injuries following an apartment fire in Bloomington.

Police Commander Mark Stehlik (STELL'-ihk) says adults dropped at least five children from two apartments after the fire broke out Monday morning, and some were caught by police and firefighters.

Stehlik says some were hurt in falling from the building. Others suffered injuries ranging from cuts from broken glass to smoke inhalation. Their conditions weren't immediately known.

Stehlik says the Red Cross and members of nearby churches were on the scene to help residents, and a nearby high school offered to house some of the people displaced by the fire.
