NEW YORK - The New York City fire department says one person has died in a fire at a private dwelling in Brooklyn.


Fire officials say the identity and age of the victim was not immediately known.

They say four other people were injured in the blaze that was reported just before 6 a.m. on East 57th Street. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

The fire was brought under control at 6:29 a.m.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
