CHICAGO - Chicago authorities say five people were injured in a fire at a high-rise apartment building on the city's North Side.

Chicago Fire Department spokesman Quention Curtis says the fire broke out at the 14-story building just before 1 p.m. Sunday. It was contained to one unit on the fifth floor.

Officials say all five people suffered smoke inhalation and were transported to area hospitals. All were reported in fair-to-serious condition.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 20 minutes.

The cause remains under investigation.
