SALAMANCA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Fire investigators believe massive flames were intentionally set in Salamanca.

Late Friday night, News 4 learned officials had taken several suspects in for questioning.

Their names and ages have not been released at this point.

Firefighters worked for several hours Friday night trying to contain flames at the former Fancher Furniture Company on Rochester Street.

Four firefighters suffered minor injuries while fighting the blaze that was declared under control around midnight.

The city's Mayor told News 4 the abandoned building has been a problem in the past.

He explained, "There's been some break-ins so we've been watching it pretty heavily and an officer was on a routine patrol, when he found a fire in the back of the building."

Crews were able to control and contain the flames, but not before they destroyed the former furniture factory, and another nearby business.

Firefighters were on the scene throughout Saturday, putting out hot spots.
