CARENCRO, La. -- Lafayette Parish Fire Department spokesman Alton Trahan says a truck fire spread to an apartment complex, destroying eight of the 10 apartments
and another eight vehicles.

He tells The Advertiser that one woman was treated for smoke inhalation and released.

Carencro Fire Chief Oren Haydel says firefighters were called to a vehicle fire at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday _
and by the time they arrived, the building was ablaze.

More than 80 firefighters from at least 10 departments worked to control the blaze into
Thursday.

Trahan says residents tried several fire extinguishers, but they didn't work.
