Hello everyone.

I'm looking for information on this sign. I'm hoping to get a program similar to this around my area.

I copied this picture from a thread and can't remember which one.

 Hope someone can help.

Thank you very much Ernie. This helps a lot. I now know whose hoops I have to jump through.
Very much appreciate it. Thanks.

No problem, Derek. This is something that I think I will try to run across my department and see if we can make any headway with it.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!!

Just went through the info here and filled out the form and now have permission to use this sign. Also comes with information on how to get this set up in any community. And of course,...it all starts with funding. But really, something like this will not have a hard time finding the funds to get it on the go. I already have a couple major organizations who will help out. Next...hook up some meetings.

Things are looking up. Thanks again Ernie. I'm on my way.
so Derek... what's the history of your getting involved with providing handicapped evacuation signage for your community? this sounds like something that we all should know more about providing...

Hi Mike.

I'll try to make this short. I am part(background support) of a non-profit organization here in my hometown. It's called "Parents Supporting Parents Society" http://www.parentssupportingparents.ca/ It's basically what the title says it is. We are trying to achieve what Allied Rehab has already done in many states in the US. All we have here, in my area, as far as window stickers or any type of notification are " Please save my pets". We decided that we need some sort of signage that lets responders know that there are people with special needs, either physical or mental, who are not able to get out on their own.
Being a part of this group of people has shown me that there are many more folks out there with special needs than I ever thought. And that raises the chances of one of them being in an emergency situation with the possibility of nobody even knowing.
My lady and I have a child who can not communicate verbally and will forever be in a wheelchair. To think that something bad could be prevented from the usage of a sticker in the window is motivating me to make some sort of change in my area.
When called to respond to an emergency, we only get the info that dispatch receives from the caller. That caller might not be the home owner, and have no information of the occupants inside.
I am now in contact with the people at Allied Services for more information. If all goes well, I hope to have this project underway locally, and spread the information so other areas might fallow suit.

I hope I answered your question Mike. You might still have my Email if you want to talk more about this. I am only just getting started, so I don't have all the facts and info yet.

Derek
