LOS ANGELES - A teenager pulled unconscious from a burning San Fernando Valley home has died in a blaze that also left three family members seriously burned.

Firefighters crawled through the smoke-filled home at dawn Tuesday in a relentless search for the missing 14-year-old boy. He wasn't breathing when they found him at the top of a spiral staircase.

He died later at the Grossman Burn Center.

Flames had engulfed the two-story suburban Sherman Oaks home by the time firefighters arrived.

Los Angeles city fire spokesman Brian Humphrey says a 58-year-old man, a 50-year-old woman, a 12-year-old girl and the teen boy, all believed to be family members, were in the home when the fire broke out. The three others are hospitalized.

The cause of the blaze hasn't been determined.
