LANCASTER, Calif. - A 25-mile stretch of a Los Angeles-area mountain road is being renamed for two firefighters who died there while battling last year's massive Station Fire.

A ceremony was held Monday at a Lancaster fire station to announce that a segment of the Angeles Forest Highway will be renamed as the "Capt. Ted Hall and Engineer Arnie Quinones Memorial Highway."

The section runs through the Angeles National Forest, where the Los Angeles County firefighters died in August 2009. Their truck plunged 800 feet off a dirt road as they set backfires in a failed attempt to keep walls of flame from overrunning a firefighting camp.

They were the only firefighters killed battling the 250-square-mile Station Fire, which burned 89 homes in the foothills northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
