SAN JOSE, Calif. - Authorities say a firefighter battling a two-alarm house fire in San Jose overnight was injured when a section of ceiling collapsed.

The extent of the injuries the firefighter sustained in the blaze, which was reported around 2:22 a.m. Tuesday, was not clear. But San Jose fire Capt. Robert Culbertson tells the San Jose Mercury News the firefighter is in stable condition at a hospital.

Culbertson said firefighters who arrived at the scene found the two-story home's garage and attic engulfed in flames.

It took them about 90 minutes to put the blaze out. The home's frame is still standing, but Culbertson said it suffered significant damage.

The fire displaced a family of five people. They are staying with a neighbor.
