CORONADO, Calif. - A family that lived aboard a 57-foot yacht near San Diego has lost its home to a fire.

The San Diego Union-Tribune says Harry and Tamra Williams, their 17-year-old son, Kristopher, and their bulldog, Lucky, managed to escape the flames Thursday night but the boat sank in a Coronado marina.

Harry Williams says he smelled smoke from an electrical appliance shortly after 8 p.m. and minutes later his yacht, Ocean Ventures, was in flames.

Fireboats used water cannons to control the blaze in about an hour.

Two boats anchored next to the Ocean Ventures were damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The family lived on the yacht for six years and plans to get another boat.
