(AP) VENTURA, Calif.

A Ventura County firefighter burned in the Santa Barbara wildfire two weeks ago has been released from the hospital.

Fire Capt. Ron Oatman says Robert Lopez was released from Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles on Monday.

The 44-year-old Lopez suffered second- and third-degree burns over 15 percent of his body when he and Capt. Ron Topolinski were trapped in a burning home on May 6. A third firefighter who came to their rescue suffered smoke inhalation.

Lopez had two surgeries, and Dr. Peter Grossman says he still has a long road to recovery but is expected to return to his job.

The other two firefighters were released from the hospital earlier.

The 8,700-acre wildfire burned dozens of homes.
