Building Fire Destroys Alabama Factory, Businesses And Church

HEADLAND, Ala. - A fire has destroyed most of an Alabama building that once housed the Wex Tex sewing factory near downtown Headland.

Police Chief Mark Jones says the state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of Friday afternoon blaze. He says he expects most of the building will be a total loss.

The city now owns the former factory and leases space inside to several businesses and a church.

Jerry Bolton, pastor of Christ Life Church, says his congregation moved into the old factory in 2005. He says two other pastors have offered meeting space for his congregation until they find another permanent home.
