NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (
WIVB) - A Niagara man is being credited with saving 10 lives, Friday morning.
Witnesses say the good samaritan was banging on doors and even carrying a baby from a burning home.
It was a frightening wake-up call at 4 a.m. Friday. A house on 22nd Street in Niagara Falls burst into flames.
Jaime Perkins says he happened to be awake at time. He saw the flames and jumped into action.
He alerted everyone inside and even helped carry a baby from the home.
Firefighters believe the fire started in the basement.
Their preliminary investigation leads them to believe that a faulty boiler may be to blame.
Everyone is safe Friday morning, but fire officials agree it could have been much worse.
A short time after the fire on 22nd Street, firefighters responded to another house fire just a few blocks away.
News 4 is told everyone inside the home on 24th street made it out safely.
There's no word on what started that fire.
